Cookies are called cookies because the term comes from the Dutch word "koekje," which means little cake. When the Dutch settled in America, they brought their baking traditions with them, including small, sweet cakes that they called "koekjes." Over time, the term evolved into "cookies" in English. So, the name "cookies" stuck and has been used to refer to these sweet treats ever since. **

Gingerbread cookies are called so because they are made with ginger and often flavored with other spices such as cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg. The term "gingerbread" comes from the Old French word "gingebras," which means preserved ginger. Over time, the term evolved to refer to a variety of baked goods made with ginger and spices, including the popular gingerbread cookies we know today. **

Spelt also contains more vitamins and minerals than white flour. However, the overall healthiness of a cookie depends on the other ingredients used, such as sugar and fat content. **
